BenQ Unveils New 4K Monitors Built for Professional Video Color Grading

BenQ has introduced its new Creative Pro PV50 Series, a pair of professional 4K monitors designed specifically for video editors, colorists, and other post-production professionals.

The lineup includes the 32-inch PV3250U and 27-inch PV2750U, both offering 120Hz refresh rates and a collection of color-focused technologies aimed at improving accuracy throughout the editing and grading process.

The new monitors are designed for demanding creative projects, including commercials, short films, branded videos, social media content, and other professional productions where consistent color reproduction is essential.

Designed for More Accurate Color Grading

Color accuracy becomes especially important when working with dark scenes and subtle shadows. Small differences in black levels or tonal transitions can affect how footage is graded and may ultimately result in unwanted changes between the editing environment and the final delivered video.

BenQ says the PV50 Series was developed to address these challenges by combining accurate color reproduction with technologies designed specifically for post-production.

The monitors use BenQ's AQCOLOR technology and are optimized for Rec.709 workflows, with a tuned gamma curve designed to preserve shadow information while avoiding crushed blacks and unwanted tonal shifts.

An IPS Black panel provides a 3000:1 contrast ratio, helping editors see greater detail in darker areas of an image.

Improved Shadow Detail Across the Screen

One of the standout features of the PV50 Series is Dark-Tone Clarity, which is designed to help professionals inspect and adjust low-light areas more confidently.

Rather than simply focusing on overall color gamut, BenQ has placed greater emphasis on maintaining detail throughout the tonal range. This can be particularly useful when working on cinematic footage, commercials, and other content where shadow detail plays an important role.

The monitors are also designed to provide consistent brightness and color from the center of the screen to its edges, helping reduce potential differences when evaluating footage across the display.

16-Bit 3D LUT Hardware Calibration

For professional color workflows, the PV50 Series supports 16-bit 3D LUT hardware calibration.

This technology is designed to improve grayscale and tonal accuracy while allowing calibrated color profiles to be stored directly on the monitor. As a result, color settings can remain consistent even when the monitor is connected to a different computer or when system configurations change.

Calibration can be managed through compatible tools including AQCOLOR Pilot, Calman and Cloudscape.

This approach is intended to reduce the need for repeated adjustments and give creators greater confidence that their monitor is accurately representing their footage.

Tools for Inspecting Video Content

BenQ has also included several workflow tools aimed specifically at video professionals.

The Shadow Check function allows users to inspect details in low-luminance areas, while Marker provides aspect-ratio and cropping guides for previewing how content may appear in different formats.

Another feature, Area Zoom, allows editors to enlarge a specific portion of an image for closer inspection without changing the original source content.

Together, these tools can make it easier to examine footage and identify potential problems during the editing and grading stages.

Wide Color Coverage for SDR and HDR

Both the PV3250U and PV2750U offer 99% DCI-P3 coverage for digital cinema and HDR-oriented workflows. They also provide 100% Rec.709 coverage, supporting accurate color reproduction for traditional SDR video production.

BenQ says each monitor is factory calibrated and supplied with an individual calibration report. The company reports an average Delta E of less than 1, indicating a high level of color accuracy out of the box.

The monitors are also Calman Verified and Pantone Validated, including Pantone SkinTone Validation, giving professional users additional assurance when working with colors and skin tones.

Accessories Designed for Creators

BenQ is pairing the PV50 monitors with several accessories intended to make professional workflows more efficient.

A Magnetic Shading Hood attaches to the display to help reduce ambient light and glare. This can be particularly useful when evaluating darker footage in environments where surrounding light could affect visual perception.

The Hotkey Puck provides quick access to frequently used color modes and preview functions, allowing users to make adjustments without constantly navigating the monitor's on-screen controls.

Connectivity is also designed with modern creative workstations in mind. Through a single Thunderbolt 4 connection, the monitors can transmit video and data while delivering up to 96W of power to a compatible Mac.

PV3250U Available Now

The 32-inch BenQ PV3250U is currently available through BenQ's website and Amazon for an MSRP of $1,599.99.

BenQ says the monitor will also become available through B&H and Adorama later in September. As part of an introductory promotion, the company is offering an early-bird discount of $100 off the purchase price for a limited time.

The smaller 27-inch PV2750U is scheduled to arrive later this fall with an MSRP of $1,099.99.

With high-resolution 4K displays, 120Hz refresh rates, wide-gamut color coverage, hardware calibration, and dedicated video inspection features, the PV50 Series is positioned as a professional display solution for creators who need greater confidence in their color decisions from editing through final delivery.
